The 48th Karaga Shaktyotsava of the revered Kengeri Shri Yallamma Devi took place late on Saturday night amidst the presence of thousands of devout worshippers. The age-old tradition of Karaga Mahotsav in Kengeri, a tradition that has stood the test of time, unfolded once again in Yeshavantpur Assembly Constituency.

At precisely 1:35 p.m., the karagadhari (priest) Anand emerged from the goddess’s sanctum sanctorum, carrying the sacred karaga. As he circumambulated the temple thrice, chants of “Govinda Govinda” resonated through the air, accompanied by the showering of jasmine flowers onto the karaga by eager devotees.

Early morning saw special worship programs adorning the Yallamma temple, with floral decorations and electric lamps giving it the appearance of a radiant bride.

The Karaga journey extended through Rajbeedi, encompassing Maygal Street, Anchekeri, Kote, Lingayatara Street, Bapuji Colony, Kuvempu Road, and Kengeri Market, culminating at the temple on Sunday morning.

Cultural programs including Yakshagana, Lalita Sahasranama chanting, Keelu Kudre, Patada Kunita, Viragase, Pooja Kunita, Chande Vadya, Dollu, Nadaswara, Tamate Vadya performances, Mangalvadya, and Vadyagusthi were held.

In support of the devotees from Kengeri Hobli and surrounding villages, the BMTC provided overnight transport arrangements.

The celebratory procession featured flower palanquins, pearl palanquins, and silver chariots from over 30 temples around Kengeri, including Sri Ramdev, Kashi Vishwanath, Yallamma Devi, Annamma, and Balamuri Ganapati.
