City Prepares For Lok Sabha Elections With Webcasting In Booths

As Karnataka gears up for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 26, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday that all polling booths in Bengaluru Rural and Mysore constituencies will be webcast.

State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena, addressing a press conference, disclosed that a total of 189 cases have been registered against political parties or candidates for significant violations under the Model Code of Conduct.

With 4 lakh polling officers set to be on duty across 30,602 polling booths in 14 constituencies during the first phase of voting, stringent security measures are in place. This includes the deployment of 5,000 micro-observers, 50,000 civil police personnel, and 65 paramilitary contingents, along with armed police forces from other states, to ensure security at the polling stations.

In particular, all 2,829 polling booths in the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency will have 100 percent webcasting coverage. Additionally, upon the request of Election Officers and observers, double paramilitary force deployment has been sanctioned for this constituency, with seven paramilitary forces being called in since April 22.

The constituencies participating in the first phase include Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkaballapur, and Kolar. Collectively, these constituencies boast a total of 2,88,19,342 voters, comprising 1,44,28,099 males, 1,43,88,176 females, and 3,067 transgender individuals.
