A two-day visit to Karnataka by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to commence on April 28, with a primary focus on the northern part of the state. This region is considered a stronghold of the BJP, and the Prime Minister’s visit aims to bolster the party’s position. Six rallies across 14 Lok Sabha seats in the region will be addressed by Prime Minister Modi.

On April 28, public rallies in Davanagere, Karwar, and Belagavi will be addressed by Prime Minister Modi. Additionally, public gatherings in Vijayapura, Koppal, and Kalaburagi constituencies, featuring fresh faces from the Congress, will also be addressed.

The joining of BJP MLA Karadi Sanganna to the Congress has been facilitated by former Deputy Chief Minister and Congress MLA Laxman Savadi. Moreover, Malikaiah Guttedar, a six-time MLA from Kalaburagi district’s Afzalpur assembly seat, who played a significant role in defeating Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in the 2019 general election, has also joined the Congress.

The BJP aims to solidify the Lingayat vote bank and maintain the support of marginalized communities and backward classes, which have traditionally supported the party in North Karnataka. This region is scheduled to go to polls on May 7.
