Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, authorities in the City are diligently preparing to ensure a seamless voting process across the five constituencies falling under the purview of the Bangalore City Police Commissionerate.
Under the guidance of the Election Commission of India, comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to facilitate hassle-free voting. A substantial deployment comprising 9,397 officers and staff, 3,919 home guards, and various armed and central police squads has been mobilized for election duties.
Stringent security measures are being implemented throughout the city, in accordance with election guidelines. Plug marches, check posts, and patrolling activities are being conducted across all sections of the city to maintain law and order.
In the run-up to polling day, several precautionary measures have been enacted. Sale of liquor has been prohibited from April 24 to April 26 within city limits, and proactive measures such as the identification and monitoring of individuals with criminal backgrounds have been initiated to prevent any disturbances.
To ensure the impartiality and integrity of the electoral process, strict enforcement of Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act-1951 has been put into effect. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been enforced 48 hours prior to polling, from April 24, 6:00 PM to April 26, 12:00 midnight.
Additionally, measures have been taken to prevent the sale and consumption of alcohol and narcotic substances during this period. Non-voters have been advised to vacate the constituency, and any form of group gathering has been prohibited.
Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to conducting free and fair elections, with special emphasis on ensuring the safety and confidence of voters. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any irregularities by contacting 112.
