Two passengers were taken into custody by the police at Delhi’s IGI airport after they made a frightening threat to security personnel during a routine check, an official announced on Monday. The incident happened on April 5. The individuals were named Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, both living in Rajkot, Gujarat.
According to sources, the security check was happening for Akasa Air flight QP-1334 (DEL-AMD) when Malani and Lalani, who were supposed to board the flight, engaged with the staff during the frisking process.
Consequently, due to the perceived threat to the aircraft and its passengers, a decision was taken to remove them from the flight. A senior police official stated that they were charged under sections 182 and 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and subsequently arrested.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI airport) Usha Rangani revealed that investigations showed Malani and Lalani were Rajkot-based business contractors, who had come to Delhi for a business meeting regarding the purchase of SS Railings material. Following their arrest, they were released on bail, while investigations are still ongoing.
