Sathish stars in the much-anticipated holiday film “Matinee,” a romantic horror-comedy releasing on April 5th. The ensemble cast includes Rachita Ram and Aditi Prabhudeva, and the trailer drops today (March 27th) courtesy of Challenging Star Darshan. Sathish spoke exclusively to S Shyam Prasad of City Hilights about the upcoming movie.
City Hilights: Can you tell us a bit about Matinee? Is it a film-within-a-film?
Sathish: “Matinee” is a romantic horror-comedy. The title itself is a metaphor for a “show,” but the nature of the show and who’s behind it all unfolds as the movie progresses. On a grand scale, life itself can be seen as a performance. The title holds many layers of meaning, but I can’t reveal too much without spoiling the plot. Rest assured, the title is apt for this movie.
City Hilights: What drew you to the project?
Sathish: The director’s narration of the script really impressed me. The producer also exuded confidence, and it was evident they were assembling the perfect cast and crew for the project. A strong team was already in place. I only sign onto films when I have a gut feeling they’ll be good, and that was definitely the case with “Matinee.”
City Hilights: What’s in store for audiences with Matinee?
Sathish: Don’t expect a morality tale or preachy messages. “Matinee” is pure entertainment. It boasts stunning visuals, catchy songs, and an unpredictable story that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire two hours and fifteen minutes. The talented cast will have you laughing and glued to the screen. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the summer holidays, “Matinee” is the perfect choice.
City Hilights: What else do you have on the horizon?
Sathish: Up next is “Ashoka Blade,” a film I have very high hopes on. Promotions will begin after “Matinee” wraps up. I also have a few other projects in the pipeline, and we’ll be announcing the titles and details soon. Right now it is Showtime with “Matinee”.
