Accusation of disproportionate assets against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is a very serious matter and requires proper investigation. The decision taken by the state cabinet to withdraw the permission to prosecute given to the CBI is inexcusable. Aam Aadmi Party condemns this move of the government, said party state president Mukhyamantri Chandru. The CBI case against DCM DK Shivakumar come to charge sheet stage in the court. It is malicious to withdraw the permission to prosecute given to the CBI investigation at this final stage stating procedural lapses of previous BJP government. These procedural lapses are being quoted only to protect the deputy chief minister and it does not absolve him of the wrong doings, if any. Chandru demanded that the state government should immediately complete all required legal processes and cooperate with the investigation. While there is no increase in the assets of common people like farmers and labours, how does the wealth of politicians increase by hundreds of times? Just in the five years from 2013-18, Shivakumar’s assets have increased by 380 percent. Doesn’t it need an explanation as to how this was possible? It is obvious that the state government is protecting DK Shivakumar. If he has not done anything wrong, he should face a thorough investigation and be acquitted. He should show his source of income and demonstrate that it is not an illegal asset. If they interfere and stop the investigation, doesn’t it mean that DK Sivakumar is guilty? Chandru Challenged DK Shivakumar saying if there has been no wrongdoing then there should be nothing to fear, and such an investigation can only prove your innocence.
