Chief Minister Siddharamaiah inaugurated the Lingambudhi Botanical Garden of the Horticulture Department at Ramakrishnanagar. The Lingambudhi Botanical Garden is spread over an area of 15 acres. The work started in 2012 and was completed in 2023.
The overall development and maintenance cost of the garden is Rs 5.60 crore. A total of 290 plant species can be found here. This is the fourth botanical garden in Karnataka developed by the Horticulture Department, including Lalbagh in Bengaluru. It is the first botanical garden in Mysuru city and district.
Special emphasis on animal and bird species with introduction of plant species from india and abroad to the local environment, adaptation, conservation, plant development and propagation to the local environment, introduction of endangered and endangered plant species of native plant species, conservation and plant development. Establishment of herbarium for accurate identification and documentation of various plant species. The basic objective of this botanical garden is to become a scientific plant centre for recording comprehensive information of plant species, to provide a scientific platform for students, environmentalists, botanical enthusiasts, plant taxonomy enthusiasts to study plant species.
Social Welfare and u District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Mines and Geology and Horticulture Minister SS Mallikarjun, Animal Husbandry and Sericulture Minister K Venkatesh, MLA GT Devegowda, City Corporation Mayor Shivakumar, Deputy Commissioner Dr. KV Rajendra, City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer KM Gayathri and others were present.
