Activists from the Kalyana Karnataka Protection Forum staged a unique protest outside the district panchayat office, carrying photos of allegedly corrupt officials tied to donkeys, demanding the immediate dismissal of Panchayat Development Officer Santosh Kumar Teli, Bill Collector Naganna Mamani, Sravan, and Kalagi taluk executive officer Basalingappa Diggi.
The protest was triggered by allegations that between April and July, the Ratkal Gram Panchayat collected ₹5-6 lakh in taxes, including ₹3-4 lakh via online machines and ₹1-2 lakh through manual receipts, but failed to deposit the money into the government’s Nidhi-1 bank account, misappropriating funds for personal use.
Sandeep Bharani, district president of the forum, accused the officials of abuse of power, dereliction of duty, and violation of government regulations, urging immediate action. The activists also submitted a formal petition to the district panchayat chief executive officer. The protest saw participation from other members, including Satish Kadun, Pappu Biddapur, and Vishwanath Dekun, highlighting strong public outrage against alleged corruption.
