Aishani Shetty to star in her directorial debut

Aishani Shetty, who has enthralled audiences with her acting, also proved to be a capable filmmaker with her debut short film Kaaji. She is now set to commence shooting for her debut feature film directorial this year, which she is currently scripting.
“I am currently in the process of scripting my debut directorial outing, which will go on floors this year. This has been on my mind for a while. I previously directed the short film Kaaji and many wanted me to follow it up with a feature. I took my time, as I wanted to narrate a subject that is close to my heart,” reveals Aishani.
This will mean returning to her roots, quite literally. “This film will be set in my hometown and will include the cultural elements of Mangaluru. It will have a feminist touch to it, as I want to highlight the issues that are commonly faced by women in the area, which will be told through the character that I will be essaying. I strongly believe that cinema should be used to narrate important issues through its reach,” shares Aishani.
Meanwhile, she reiterates that acting will not take a backseat. “I have Hondisi Bareyiri and Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage that are post production. I have also heard a few good stories that I will finalise soon. I know that people often think that when an actor takes on filmmaking, they may not give acting as much time. But I want to clarify that I will continue to act in films, and will pursue my passion simultaneously,” signs off Aishani.
