Mangaluru

The Mangaluru International Airport has taken another step in enhancing security by purchasing a bomb suit and handing it over to the CISF Airport Security Group (AST).

This is in line with the commitment made by the airport operators to the Central Armed Police Force, which is tasked with providing security to the major national installation. Provides them with state-of-the-art security equipment.  It will also meet the requirement prescribed by the Civil Aviation Security Regulator of the Airport said in a statement.

The bomb suit is used by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of the AST to neutralise any security threat involving explosives in the Airport premises. The AST, which is trained to deal with explosives, gives personnel much-needed confidence and protection to deal with emergency security threats. Bomb disposal and detection devices will help counter the threat in the shortest possible time, it said.

In December last year, the airport had handed over the first batch of bomb detection and disposal squad equipment to the AST unit. This is a continuation of the airport operator’s move to hand over the bullet-proof vehicle to the AST unit earlier last year.

All these measures are in line with Vision 2025, which created the airport   a safe, customer-centric and eco-friendly hub for domestic and international operations.  In a recent meeting with top CISF officials, the airport leadership reiterated its commitment to procure and provide other important equipment required by the AST unit to perform its duties effectively, an Airport spokesperson said.As part of the continuous focus on security at  Airport, special bomb detection and disposal squad equipment was handed over to the Airport Security Group (ASG) (ASG) of CISF
