After months of anticipation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced the formation of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the party. The newly constituted CWC includes prominent leaders such as Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot, Priyanka Gandhi, and others. The addition of Sachin Pilot to the panel comes ahead of the crucial assembly elections in Rajasthan. The CWC comprises 39 general members, 32 permanent invitees (including state in-charges), and 13 special invitees. Ex-officio members include presidents of the Youth Congress, the National Students’ Union of India, the Mahila Congress, and the Seva Dal. Even under the formula of having 50% members under the age of 50, leaders like Sachin Pilot, K Patel, and Gaurav Gogoi have secured positions under this criterion. Notable additions such as Supriya Shrinate, Alka Lamba, Deepender Hooda, Priniti Shinde, Yashomati Thakur, and Jothimani have also been included under the same formula. The party issued a statement saying, Congress President has constituted the CWC. Among the prominent members are Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, A.K. Antony, Ambika Soni, Meira Kumar, Digvijay Singh, P. Chidambaram, Tariq Anwar, Mukul Wasnik, Anand Sharma, Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Ajay Maken. The new CWC lineup also features Sachin Pilot, Shashi Tharoor, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and Priyanka Gandhi. The 39-member CWC list includes other notable names like Lal Thanhawla, Ashokrao Chavan, Gaikhangam, N Raghuveera Reddy, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Salman Kurshid, Jairam Ramesh, Jitendra Singh, Deepak Babaria, Jagdish Thakor, GA Mir, Avinash Pande, Deepa Das Munshi, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, Kamaleshwar Patel, and KC Venugopal.
