BENGALURU
“I am a member of BJP but I must speak the truth. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are behind the controversy of Hijab and Halal. The government and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa should intervene,” said former minister and BJP MLC Vishwanath.
Speaking to reporters in the capital, Vishwanath said, “Halal is followed since many years. It is not right to say that traders of one community should not do business at temple fairs. The state government should immediately intervene in these issues.
“Karnataka is ruled by the BJP government. The government is not formed by VHP or RSS. If Yediyurappa was the CM, these issues would not have cropped up at all. So I request former CM Yediyurappa to intervene and resolve the matters,” he said.
BJP leaders themselves are opposing the presentation of anti-conversion bill. Vishwanath has opposed the move. Vishwanath had spoken on this subject in Belagavi on December 23, 2021. He said that Basavanna spoke about social equality way back in the 12th century. So this bill is not right.
“India is a multi-religious country. Ambedkar has given a solid constitution to this great nation. In that opportunity is given for every citizen to worship any God or follow any religion. There is no mention of Hindutva. It is really ironical that the CM is trying to break the humanity and equality preached by Basavanna,” he said.
