Education must go hand in hand with values: Prakashanatha Swamiji

Education plays an important role in a person’s development, but values and good conduct are equally essential, said Dr. Prakashanatha Swamiji, Managing Director of BGS and SJB Group of Institutions.

Speaking at Yugma 2K26, the Freshers’ Day programme held at BGS PU College on Kengeri-Uttarahalli Main Road, he said education without wisdom could lead to decline. He urged students to complement their academic pursuits by developing good qualities, discipline and proper conduct.

Bengaluru University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shivaraj said the youth were the strength of the nation and called upon students to pursue their goals with determination and contribute to the country’s progress.

Actor and singer Shashidhar Kote said BGS institutions had made significant contributions to education while promoting values and cultural harmony. He urged students to respect all languages and develop a special love for Kannada.

DD, All India Radio and playback singer Bhagyashree appreciated the institution’s efforts to promote cultural and spiritual activities along with academics. She said such initiatives helped students develop their personalities beyond the classroom.

Actor and model Kavya Shah said friends and one’s immediate surroundings played an important role in shaping an individual’s future. She advised students to exercise caution while choosing their friends and companions.

Principal Prof. Netravathi said Freshers’ Day marked more than just the beginning of a new academic year. It represented the start of new aspirations, expectations and hopes for students.

Academic Director Dr. Puttaraju Satyaprakash and other dignitaries were present at the event.
