Members of the Dravidian Students’ Council staged a fast-to-death protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, demanding immediate and stringent legal action against Wisdom Waves Wellness and Business Training Center, Aspireway Marketing Pvt. Ltd. and DDCC Training Center, alleging that the organisations are exploiting unemployed youth in the name of employment and training.
The protesters submitted a detailed memorandum to the district administration, alleging that job seekers are being attracted with promises of employment and training and are subsequently made to sign agreements on Rs 100 stamp papers containing conditions that allegedly shift the entire financial and legal responsibility onto the candidates.
According to the memorandum, the organisations are allegedly involved in several irregularities, including:, candidates are allegedly promised employment but are subsequently made to sign affidavits stating that they will not receive a fixed salary. An alleged 20 per cent deduction is made from the amount paid for products even when they are returned within 15 days. Candidates are allegedly told that payments will not be refunded after 15 days under any circumstances.
The organisations allegedly disclaim responsibility for any future loss or hardship suffered by candidates or their teams.
Different names, including DDCC Training Center, Wisdom Waves, Aspireway Marketing and Aspireway Fashion, are allegedly being used in connection with the same business activities, according to the protesters.
The memorandum also questions the authenticity and functioning of certain websites and links allegedly used to provide company and product information.
Candidates are allegedly encouraged to make payments to personal bank accounts of leaders or other individuals instead of an official company current account, threatened with legal action and freezing of their IDs if they violate company rules. Money is allegedly collected in the name of training without proper receipts or acknowledgements. Unemployed youth are allegedly made to sign agreements on stamp paper accepting complete responsibility for any consequences. The organisations are alleged to have operations without obtaining all applicable local statutory permissions.
The protesters alleged that MSME Udyam registration obtained under a management consultancy category is being used while allegedly carrying out MLM/pyramid-style activities.
The memorandum also alleges that a municipal licence obtained under the category of “distributors” is being used for activities involving collection of money from youngsters.
The Council urged the Deputy Commissioner to treat the allegations as a serious public-interest issue and ensure a transparent, time-bound investigation, rather than allowing unemployed youngsters to allegedly fall prey to deceptive employment and MLM schemes.
