Shashi Shekar R. said space exploration needs precision, curiosity and science, encouraging students to innovate confidently while supporting educational reforms for future challenges

University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof. Lokanath N. K. said that science and innovation are closely connected and encouraged students to observe the world carefully to develop new ideas and discoveries.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a one-day state-level seminar titled “Space Frontiers: Innovations, Exploration and Discovery” organized by the Department of Physics in association with Mysore Science Foundation at JSS College for Women in Mysuru on Monday.
Prof. Lokanath said space is a vast subject that teaches humanity many lessons about nature and progress. He advised students to read original textbooks and study the lives of great scientists to understand the importance of creativity and innovation.
Retired ISRO Senior Space Scientist Shashi Shekar R. said space exploration requires accuracy because there is no room for mistakes. He added that curiosity combined with science encourages real exploration and innovation. The student community was encouraged to participate confidently in scientific activities and contribute ideas without fear of failure. He also stressed the need for educational reforms to prepare learners for future challenges.
Dr. Prathima D. S., Joint Director of Collegiate Education, said space research connects with many modern fields and basic science remains the foundation of scientific advancement. She highlighted that seminars help improve research culture and critical thinking among students.
The event was attended by Mysore Science Foundation President Krishnegowda P., Principal Dr. Rechanna and Physics Department Head Sowmya P. Faculty members and students also participated in the programme. Soujanya K, Deeksha and other students contributed to the smooth conduct of the event.
The inauguration was followed by three technical sessions focusing on space missions, challenges, star life cycles and modern telescopes. Shashi Shekar R. discussed space missions while Dr. Shivalingaswamy T. explained the life cycle of stars. Amoghavarsha N. presented details about twenty-first century telescopes and their role in understanding universe better. The seminar concluded with a message that science and innovation must move together to inspire young minds and create solutions for future generations through knowledge research and dedication.
