In Somwarpet, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign for updating the voter list was officially launched at the MLA’s residential office. The initiative aims to ensure accurate voter registration and strengthen democratic participation in the region.
The campaign was inaugurated by MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, who also actively participated by submitting necessary documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Officials present included Tahsildar Krishnamurthy, election section Shirastedar Lohith, and Revenue Inspector Prahlad.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA urged all citizens of the taluk to cooperate fully with the ongoing voter list revision process. He emphasized that BLOs would visit households to distribute and collect application forms, and residents must ensure accurate completion of all required details.
He explained that each voter will receive two enumeration forms, which must be filled carefully and submitted on time. One copy should include a photograph and be returned to BLOs by the stipulated deadline of July 29. He also assured that officials would provide all necessary guidance during the home visits.
The MLA cautioned that negligence in updating voter details could result in the loss of voting rights. He stressed the importance of maintaining accurate electoral records to protect democratic participation.
Highlighting the significance of voting, Dr. Gowda said that democracy is not just a system of governance but a collective voice of citizens. Every vote, he noted, plays a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future and strengthening democratic values.
Officials present at the event reiterated that the SIR campaign is essential for maintaining an updated and transparent electoral roll. Citizens were encouraged to actively participate and ensure their details are correctly recorded to safeguard their voting rights.
