Kalaburagi
The District Health and Family Welfare Department in Kalaburagi has intensified efforts to prevent female foeticide and improve the sex ratio. Officials warned that prenatal sex determination is illegal under the PCPNDT Act, 1994, and strict action will be taken against hospitals, scanning centres, and individuals involved. Offenders may face imprisonment, fines, and cancellation of medical licences. District Health Officer Dr. Sharanabasappa Kyatanal urged the public not to support such practices and to report violations, assuring confidentiality and rewards for credible information. Awareness drives are being conducted under the slogan “Let her live, let society progress” to promote gender equality.
