GBA Deploys Emergency Medical Team at Falcon City

Residents report gastroenteritis cases, prompting swift action by health authorities

BENGALURU

Following reports of gastroenteritis among residents of Falcon City in Vasavanthapura Ward under Bengaluru South City Corporation, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) deployed emergency medical teams to contain the outbreak. The Health Department, along with 20 staff members, inspected the residential complex and assessed the situation after complaints surfaced on November 12.

Investigations revealed that the Apollo Clinic within Falcon City had been treating nearly three gastroenteritis cases daily from October 6 to November 12. Immediate measures included deploying four medical teams to conduct first-aid and outreach camps from November 12 to 27, providing residents with preventive guidance and health education.

A total of 177 residents received treatment at local hospitals. Water supply systems, including the main source, storage sumps, overhead tanks, and individual flats, were thoroughly inspected. Samples collected were sent to the Public Health Institute for analysis to determine contamination levels.

The apartment management has been issued a notice directing them to clean and disinfect all water sources, storage sumps, and tanks. They are required to maintain water quality in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards to prevent further infections.

Medical teams continue to provide healthcare services on-site, monitor residents’ health, and conduct awareness sessions to prevent future outbreaks. Authorities emphasized that residents should follow hygiene and water safety guidelines while investigations and remedial actions are ongoing.
