Mandya
Mandya District Administration has formally launched the promotional campaign for the upcoming Krishi Mela–2025, scheduled to be held in December. Speaking at the flag-off event in front of the DC office, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar said agriculture remains the backbone of India’s development and farmers are the country’s true strength.
He noted that the Mandya University of Agricultural Sciences, established just last year, has already received UGC recognition within six months—a sign of its strong progress. The three-day Krishi Mela will take place on December 5, 6 and 7 at the university campus. The event aims to help farmers enhance income using modern technology and scientific farming practices.
Dr. Kumar urged farmers and supporters to actively participate and make use of the opportunities offered at the mela. He added that the university has been continuously designing farmer-friendly programmes and providing quality education to its students.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi said the mela will showcase several demonstrations useful for farmers, and participants from neighbouring districts can also benefit. Senior leaders, including the Chief Minister, are expected to attend, and police arrangements are already underway.
Special Officer Dr. Harini Kumar shared that over 350 agricultural stalls will be set up, covering advancements in scientific and technical farming. On a 60-acre demonstration site, live displays on crop varieties, intercropping, organic and natural farming methods will be conducted.
The mela will also focus on market strategies, value addition, integrated farming and new technologies that can boost farmer income. Children can learn about the insect world, and visitors will gain insights into modern, sustainable agricultural practices.
University officials, scientists and agriculture experts were present during the launch event.
