Karandlaje slams Cong govt for rising crimes, says it’s busy with politics

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje lashed out at the Congress government, accusing it of neglecting public safety and focusing only on internal politics.

BENGALURU

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging that it has failed to protect its citizens and is preoccupied solely with political infighting. Speaking at the BJP state office in Malleshwaram during the release of a poster titled “Killer Congress Government,” she accused the ruling Congress of ignoring rising crime rates, including increasing incidents of violence against women across the state.

Karandlaje said that in the past two years, more than 1,800 women have been raped and assaulted in Karnataka. “A girl who came to sell balloons was raped and murdered in the Chief Minister’s own district. In Hubballi, Neha was brutally murdered. During the Belagavi session, a woman was stripped naked and raped. A lecturer from Moodbidri brought his student to Bengaluru and assaulted her. The government in the state is dead to the people — this is why criminals have gained such courage,” she charged.

She alleged that the ruling leaders are more concerned about internal politics than governance. “The government is busy deciding who should become Chief Minister, who should be Deputy Chief Minister, who should retain or gain ministries, instead of working for the people’s safety and welfare,” Karandlaje said.

The Union Minister also expressed concern over a rising number of suicides among officials and contractors. “In the last two and a half years, more than 20 officials have committed suicide. Some succumbed to the pressure of the caste survey, while others died of heart attacks caused by stress. Over 15 contractors have ended their lives. For the first time in the state’s history, contractors have even written letters seeking euthanasia,” she remarked.

Questioning the Congress’s claim of “guarantees” to the people, Karandlaje said, “You speak about guarantees, but who is the guarantee for our lives?” Criticizing the Home Minister, she added that a weak leadership lacking control over the police cannot ensure law and order. BJP women’s wing leaders, including MLC Bharathi Shetty and Hemalatha Nayak, were present at the event.
