Karnataka Congress leaders have highlighted the role of the party’s guarantee schemes in fostering self-reliance among women and underprivileged families. Speaking at the inauguration of a meeting aimed at strengthening the Bangalore South District Congress Workers’ Unit at the city Congress office, State Congress Workers’ Unit President K. Puttaswamygouda praised the initiatives implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar. He noted that the programs have been particularly beneficial for workers, women, and minority communities, drawing parallels to the popularity of Indira Gandhi’s 20-point program in earlier times.
Puttaswamygouda emphasized that the Congress government has effectively implemented its five guarantee schemes, bringing significant positive changes to the social and economic lives of the beneficiaries. He urged all office bearers of the district Congress Workers’ Unit to actively promote these programs among the public and strengthen the party’s organizational reach.
District Congress Workers’ Unit President Puttaraju also spoke on the legacy of labor-focused initiatives by leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mallikarjun Kharge, Oscar Fernandes, and current ministers, noting that labor laws are now being progressively implemented. Under the Cyber Gram-1 scheme, every worker can avail of a free labor card, and office bearers were instructed to distribute cards to 80,000 workers across all taluks to empower the grassroots.
The meeting also discussed party organization strategies, labor card distribution, and preparation for upcoming Panchayat elections. Ashwath and Siddaraju were appointed as Hobli Presidents for Harohalli and Kootagal, respectively, and were handed their appointment letters and worker cards. Several senior leaders, including former ZP President K. Ramesh, State General Secretary Aravind Mavalli, KPCC Workers’ Division Vice President Harinigouda, and other district leaders, were present at the meeting.
