Madavara three-storey building tilts

Residents evacuated as safety concerns rise in Nelamangala neighborhood

Panic gripped residents on Monday when a three-story building at Madavara near Nelamangala suddenly tilted by more than half a foot, prompting immediate evacuation of six families living in the structure.

The building, constructed roughly two years ago by owner Srinivas, a professional contractor, had reportedly been built with strong pillars and an investment of around ₹80 lakh. Despite this, the sudden tilt has raised serious concerns about construction safety in the area.

Officials from the Madanayakanahalli Municipal Corporation, accompanied by local police, rushed to the site to ensure the safety of tenants and prevent any untoward incidents. The displaced families have temporarily taken shelter in neighboring homes as structural engineers assess the building’s stability and determine corrective measures. Srinivas, the building owner, expressed shock at the incident, stating that he had followed all construction protocols and used quality materials. He added that immediate steps would be taken to secure the property and prevent further risk to residents.

Engineers are expected to provide a detailed report on the cause of the tilt, and authorities have stressed the importance of regular inspections of newly constructed buildings to prevent similar incidents.

The municipal corporation has urged residents in nearby buildings to stay alert and maintain a safe distance until the assessment is complete. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding rapid urban development and construction standards in Nelamangala and surrounding areas. Authorities have assured that necessary actions will be taken to safeguard residents and ensure compliance with building regulations, while families await safe re-entry into their homes.
