Indian Embassy’s Viksit Bharat run unites Riyadh community
Riyadh
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh, in partnership with India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, successfully organised the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 on Saturday. The event attracted over 200 participants, including members of the Indian diaspora, local communities, students, and professionals.
Held as part of the Seva Pakhwada campaign, the run highlighted India’s progress in infrastructure, healthcare, technology, education, and sustainability under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Participants joined a 4-kilometre community run under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation,” promoting unity, service, and fitness.
A key moment was the collective recitation of the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, where attendees committed to supporting India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The event echoed the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning “the world is one family,” with similar runs held simultaneously in over 150 locations worldwide.
In addition to the run, the community planted about 50 saplings as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, symbolising a commitment to environmental sustainability and honouring loved ones.
The event saw participation from Saudi officials, including the Ministry of Sport and local police, highlighting the importance of cultural and developmental ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
The Viksit Bharat Run 2025 served as a global platform to unite Indian communities abroad, celebrate India’s growth, and inspire collective responsibility towards building a stronger, greener, and more inclusive India.
