PM Modi launches Rs 1.22 lakh crore development projects in Banswara, Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated several major development projects in Rajasthan, emphasizing India’s growing power sector and the importance of balanced development across all states. Speaking at a rally in Banswara, he said, “During Navratri, nine forms of Shakti are worshipped. Today, we celebrate ‘Urja Shakti’, symbolizing electricity generation. A new chapter in India’s energy sector is being written with projects worth Rs 90,000 crore.”

Earlier, Modi laid the foundation and inaugurated multiple projects totaling over Rs 1,22,100 crore, jointly funded by the central and state governments. He also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains connecting Bikaner-Delhi Cantt, Jodhpur-Delhi Cantt, and Udaipur City-Chandigarh.

The Prime Minister met beneficiaries of the PM-KUSUM scheme from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka. He inaugurated the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4×700 MW) by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd, valued at around Rs 42,000 crore. The plant, featuring four indigenous Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors, will provide reliable base-load power and strengthen India’s clean energy capabilities under the “fleet mode” initiative.

Modi also inaugurated and laid foundations for green energy projects worth Rs 19,210 crore, including solar initiatives in Phalodi, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Sikar, and Bikaner, significantly expanding India’s renewable energy capacity while reducing carbon emissions.

Earlier, he and Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma paid tribute to Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary. Modi also inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025 at Greater Noida, highlighting India’s focus on infrastructure, trade, and sustainable growth.
