Parking Rule Drive

Bengaluru traffic police tackles parking congestion

In a bid to reduce traffic congestion caused by unauthorized parking across the city, Bengaluru Traffic Police has launched a comprehensive citywide initiative targeting problem areas and key thoroughfares. The program focuses on improving traffic flow, ensuring compliance with parking regulations, and creating safer streets for commuters, pedestrians, and residents.

As part of the initiative, the Traffic Police have reached out to cab and delivery aggregator companies, inviting their collaboration through a real-time ‘No Parking Compliance’ API. This system is designed to send alerts to drivers and operators when parking rules are violated, ensuring immediate corrective action and reducing the chances of traffic disruptions caused by illegally parked vehicles. Officials said the technology-driven approach will allow better monitoring of compliance, particularly in high-density areas, while also encouraging private operators to actively participate in maintaining traffic discipline.

Authorities emphasized that the partnership with cab and delivery companies is crucial, as these vehicles contribute significantly to urban traffic congestion. By receiving timely alerts and adhering to parking guidelines, drivers can prevent violations, while operators can ensure overall compliance among their fleet.

Traffic Police have also urged all cab and delivery intermediaries to reach out for any queries or clarifications regarding the new system. Officials said the initiative reflects the department’s commitment to leveraging technology, citizen cooperation, and innovative strategies to address traffic-related challenges, improve road safety, and enhance overall mobility in Bengaluru.
