Bengaluru West Corporation addresses waterlogging issues

Bengaluru West City Corporation Additional Commissioner (Development) Shri Digvijay Bodke conducted an on-site inspection at the entrance of Bangalore University to assess the persistent waterlogging issues reported in the area. The inspection aimed to identify problem points, evaluate drainage systems, and direct officials on immediate corrective measures to prevent inconvenience to students, faculty, and daily commuters.

During the visit, Shri Bodke examined areas prone to water accumulation during rains, noting that inadequate drainage and obstructed stormwater channels were the primary causes of the recurring problem. He instructed the municipal engineers and maintenance staff to implement corrective actions without delay, including clearing clogged drains, strengthening water outlets, and deploying temporary water diversion methods where necessary.

Officials accompanying the Additional Commissioner were directed to prepare a detailed report on the waterlogging hotspots, highlighting both short-term solutions and long-term infrastructure improvements. The emphasis was on ensuring that such disruptions do not recur during the upcoming monsoon season.

Shri Bodke also stressed the importance of continuous monitoring, citizen feedback, and inter-departmental coordination to maintain the efficiency of drainage systems. He urged the staff to engage with local residents and university authorities to address their concerns promptly and provide timely updates on remedial actions.

The inspection underscores Bengaluru West City Corporation’s commitment to proactive urban management, emphasizing swift action on civic complaints and improving the overall quality of life for citizens. By addressing waterlogging at critical points like Bangalore University, the administration aims to ensure safer, smoother, and more accessible roads across the city.
