Udaya TV is all set to launch its new daily serial Mangalya from Tuesday, September 2 at 7 pm. This emotional drama is being promoted with the tagline “The story of a good drunkard’s very good wife.” It marks the first Kannada serial to premiere on a Tuesday.
The plot follows Mayuri, a hardworking village girl from Durgapur. She takes care of her family, farms, cattle, and also works in the garden of a rich city family. The male lead, Tarak, belongs to this family. Due to differences with his proud mother, he turns to alcohol. In a dramatic twist, he marries poor Mayuri just to teach his mother a lesson. This marks a turning point in Mayuri’s life.
Popular Kannada actor Jagan plays the kind-hearted drunkard. Known for his roles in Bigg Boss, Gandhari, and Srigauri, he also directs and produces Mangalya. Aishwarya Pissey plays Mayuri. She is known for her roles in Sundari and other Kannada and Telugu shows.
The cast also includes Jhansi, Inchara, Venkatesh, and others. Directed by Naveen Somanahalli, with Manju as cinematographer and Dhanu as editor, Mangalya aims to continue Udaya TV’s legacy of strong storytelling.
