Over 30,000 idols to be immersed; police enforce diversions, parking bans, and appeal for cooperation.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic restrictions in connection with the large-scale Ganesha idol immersion scheduled at Halasuru Lake Kalyani from August 27 to 31. With over 30,000 idols expected for immersion, diversions will be enforced daily between 2:00 pm and 4:00 am under the Pulakeshinagar Traffic Police limits to ensure smooth vehicular flow and public safety.
Key traffic modifications include the conversion of two-way movement on Kensington Road between Kensington–Murphy Road Junction and MEG–Halasuru Lake into a one-way, permitting traffic only from MEG towards Kensington–Murphy Road. Similarly, sections of Annaswamy Modaliyar Road will see directional changes to accommodate immersion-related movement.
For alternative routes, vehicles coming from Kensington Road via MEG must turn right at Gurudwara Junction, proceeding through Gangadhara Chetty Road–Dickenson Road–St John’s Road–Sri Circle–Lavanya Theatre Junction–Naga Junction–Promenade Road–Wheelers Road to reach Halasuru Lake. Motorists from Thiruvallavar Statue Junction are advised to use Gangadhara Chetty Road–RBNMS (left turn)–Dickenson Road–St John’s Road–Sri Circle–Lavanya Junction–Naga Junction towards the lake.
Parking restrictions will also be strictly enforced, with no parking allowed near the main entrance of Halasuru Lake and Kalyani, as well as on Kensington Road, Annaswamy Modaliyar Road and Tank Road. The advisory, issued by Sahil Bagla, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic (East), urged citizens to cooperate with police personnel and follow diversion signage. Authorities emphasised that public cooperation is essential in managing the heavy festive rush and ensuring that the immersion process is conducted safely and smoothly.
