IPL is priority, no favorite team: Anuj Rawat

New Delhi

East Delhi Riders skipper Anuj Rawat has made it clear that his biggest goal is to play regularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL), calling it his top priority. While he sees the Gujarat Titans (GT) as a good option, Rawat stressed that he has no favourite franchise and is open to opportunities with any team. The main thing is to play. GT is a good option, but options are always open. Wherever I go, I just want to play, he said.

Though Rawat did not feature in a single game for GT during IPL 2025, he has been part of 24 league matches overall, scoring 318 runs at an average of 19.88 with a strike rate of 119.10.

Currently, Rawat is leading East Delhi Riders in the second season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), where his team stands second on the table with five wins from seven matches. With the bat, Rawat has been impressive, scoring 232 runs in seven games at an average of 46.40 and a strike rate of 184.13, including three half-centuries. He believes his strong DPL form will reflect in the upcoming domestic season and insists he is 100 percent ready for the IPL.

Rawat also highlighted the value of learning from senior players and coaches during IPL practice sessions. Training alongside Jos Buttler and Parthiv Patel has helped him improve his batting skills. You learn small but important things from them, and it has really helped me this season, Rawat said.
