“Children should take up sports like Mallakamba, which enhance balance, strength, and self-confidence,” said Krishnagouda H Patil, District Youth Congress President, while inaugurating the Chalukya Mallakamba Academy at the District Indoor Stadium on Kalasapura Road.
Patil urged the academy to strive for excellence and bring recognition to the district, state, and nation through Mallakamba.
Senior leader Sharadrao Huilagol highlighted that Mallakamba, an ancient Indian art blending strength and discipline, once flourished during the Mysore kingdom, Vijayanagara Empire, Badami Chalukyas, and village arenas.
Businessman Shankar Hanagal noted that the academy aims to foster both physical and mental growth in children, offering training in different Mallakamba styles under expert guidance.
Founder-President Vijaya Channagoni announced that beginner classes have already started, with full-fledged training sessions set to begin on September 1.
District Sports Officer Sharanu Gogeri, coaches, athletes, and local leaders were also present.
