‘Collective Effort Needed to Build Gadag into an Industrial Hub’

Gadag

“Everyone must join hands to transform Gadag into an industrial city. The District Chamber of Commerce should aspire to compete with Bengaluru’s Chamber of Commerce—when we set such a goal, the way forward becomes clear,” said MP Basavaraj Bommai.

He was speaking at the Golden Jubilee of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the Silver Jubilee of the Gadag Festival and the Best Trader and Entrepreneur Awards ceremony.

Bommai stressed the need to write a strong future for the city by effectively utilising available infrastructure. He assured businessmen that he would hold quarterly bankers’ meetings, inviting traders’ associations to resolve issues collectively.

Reflecting on the Chamber’s 50-year journey, Bommai praised its founders for building the institution under challenging circumstances, noting that institutional milestones are more significant than individual ones.

Updating on development works, he said railway connectivity between Gadag–Wadi and Gadag–Yalavi is underway, with ₹700 crore sanctioned for the latter. He added that the Centre is set to approve the Varada–Bedti river link, which will address summer water shortages in the Tungabhadra basin.

Siddarama Swamiji of Tonta, along with office bearers of the Chamber, attended the event.
