Kasargod police have arrested a 45-year-old man from Dharwad in connection with the murder of a labourer from Gadag that took place on March 11 at a construction site in Nullippady on the outskirts of the city. The accused, identified as H Manjunath alias Manjappa, is alleged to have killed Chandrashekar alias Suresh Pattod, 38, following a dispute. The victim’s body was found in a pit dug for a lift at the construction site, with bloodstains noticed across the area. Police formed a special investigation team and tracked the accused, who had been absconding, to Hassan where he was arrested. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed, stating that a Rs 2,000 loan dispute led to the fatal attack.
