Police catch thief in temple donation case

Devotees in Kadthala village can finally breathe a sigh of relief as local police have apprehended a man responsible for a series of thefts at a revered local temple. The arrest follows an investigation into a break-in at the Bharbhareshwara Durgaparameshwari Temple, where sacred donation boxes were targeted.

The accused, 35-year-old Raghavendra V.K. from Varanga village, was taken into custody by the Ajekar police. According to authorities, the thief broke the locks on multiple donation boxes dedicated to Bharbhareshwara, Kodamaniththaya, and Nagadevara. While the amount of cash stolen was relatively small, around Rs 1,000. The act of desecrating a place of worship had deeply upset the community.

Police acted swiftly, recovering the stolen money along with a motorcycle worth Rs 25,000, a mobile phone, and an iron spanner used to force open the locks. The recovery of these items provides strong evidence against the suspect. While one man is currently in custody, officials are continuing their investigation to determine if any accomplices were involved in the crime. For now, the arrest serves as a stern warning that even small-scale thefts from community spaces will not be ignored by the law.
