The Chikkaballapura district administration will begin Praja Seva Andolana meetings from September 5 to hear public grievances and provide quick solutions closer to people’s homes.
District Collector G. Prabhu urged residents to use the programme to submit complaints and applications for government services.
The initiative aims to reduce the need for people to visit government offices repeatedly. Taluk-level meetings will be held on the first and third Saturdays under the district in-charge minister’s leadership, with local MLAs present. Meetings will also be conducted at hobli and village levels on other Saturdays.
The first taluk-level meeting will be held at 10.30 am on September 5 at the Government Girls School premises in Kasaba Hobli, Bagepalli taluk. Hobli-level meetings will also be held at Nandi, Tondebavi, Sadali and Munganahalli in the respective constituencies.
Residents can submit applications related to pensions, land records, ration cards, housing, drinking water, roads, education, irrigation, lakes, police services and welfare schemes including Shakti, Annabhagya, Griha Lakshmi, Griha Jyothi and Yuvanidhi. Applications received at the venues will be uploaded to the IPGRS portal, and applicants will receive acknowledgement numbers.
Officials will try to settle eligible cases immediately and provide documents such as approvals, sanction letters or work orders at the venue. Departmental stalls will explain procedures, while drinking water, medical facilities and other arrangements will be provided. Separate queues will be available for fresh complaints and cases pending for more than 21 days. Prabhu appealed to residents to participate in large numbers and make full use of the doorstep service.
New classrooms planned at Mandikal Government School
District Magistrate G. Prabhu laid the foundation stone for new classrooms, a kitchen and dining hall at Karnataka Public School in Mandikal village on Thursday. The project is being supported by the district administration, One School at a Time Inc. (OSAAT), and Burns and McDonnell. Prabhu said providing basic educational facilities is essential for building strong human resources. The organisations have taken up their 147th school project and invested Rs.90 lakh, while construction will cost Rs.1 crore. Three classrooms, a kitchen and dining hall are expected to be completed within 10 months. Another school may receive Rs.1 crore under CSR.
Chikkaballapura land account sparks high-level investigation
The district administration has ordered an investigation into the Chikkaballapura Municipality creating an e-account for about 24 acres of land in Patrenahalli Gram Panchayat limits. A three-member team comprising the Sub-Divisional Officer, District Urban Development Cell Project Director and Urban Planning Authority Commissioner will investigate the matter. The team has been asked to examine possible land grabbing, misuse of power, negligence and rule violations, and submit its report within 24 hours. Records show the land was listed as a Railway Depot between 1983-84 and 2003. District Magistrate G. Prabhu said strict action will follow if wrongdoing is confirmed.
