Residents of Lingapura have demanded that the new Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) quarters be constructed on the government-approved site, alleging that influential individuals are preventing the work.
Villagers said the quarters are important for ensuring healthcare workers remain available and public medical services continue smoothly.
According to residents, an old ANM quarters had stood on a 45×75-foot government site under Lingapura Gramthana Survey No. 18, Panchayat Record Form No. 15 and Khata No. 304. The building became unsafe and was demolished. The Health Department later approved funds and other formalities to construct a new quarters at the same location.
Villagers alleged that some influential people were pressuring officials to shift the project elsewhere, resulting in the construction being stopped. They also claimed that threats had created fear among residents, making people hesitant to openly raise the issue before officials. The villagers said the lack of accommodation for healthcare staff was affecting local health services.
A memorandum submitted to the Panchayat Development Officer and secretary stated that residents would not accept construction at any site other than Khata No. 304. They urged taluk and district officials to visit the location, examine the technical report and resolve the dispute quickly so the sanctioned project can proceed.
The villagers warned that returning or cancelling government funds because of administrative confusion or negligence would make responsible officials accountable. They also said they would approach the Lokayukta seeking a detailed investigation if the issue remained unresolved. Copies of the memorandum were submitted to the Honnali Taluk Executive Officer, Taluk Health Officer, Davanagere District Health Officer, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer and Lokayukta office.
