A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded at the Alur Housing Board colony after a young woman killed her two-year-old child and hanged herself following continuous domestic harassment from her husband’s family.
The victims were identified as twenty-seven-year-old Anupama and her toddler son, Aryan. According to police reports, Anupama and her neighbor Srinivas fell in love and married at a local temple despite fierce opposition from the groom’s mother Jayamma and sister Anushree. Following the wedding, the in-laws allegedly subjected the young mother to relentless torment and eventually threw her out of their home for entering a love marriage.
Overwhelmed by severe emotional distress and isolation, Anupama took the extreme step of taking her child’s life before ending her own. Amid profound grief, her maternal family demonstrated immense humanity by consenting to donate the eyes of both the deceased mother and child. Local police authorities have initiated an investigation into the complaint lodged against the in-laws.
