NEW DELHI
A massive political storm has erupted after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi openly labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as “traitors.”
Speaking at a public rally in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of working against national interests and destroying the Constitution. He urged voters to boldly call out these leaders to their faces, claiming they have collaborated to sell the nation.
As the remarks triggered nationwide controversy, the Congress party quickly jumped to Gandhi’s defense. Party spokesperson Pawan Khera stated that the comments simply mirror the growing anger and frustration among ordinary citizens.
Khera argued that even people who previously voted for the current government now feel deeply betrayed, disappointed, and anxious about India’s future. He claimed that the public’s actual language on the streets is far harsher, and the leaders must learn to face this bitter truth.
However, the political drama has also created cracks within the opposition alliance. The Samajwadi Party, a key Congress ally, chose to distance itself from the heavy statement. Member of Parliament Awadhesh Prasad clarified that they do not endorse such aggressive language in political debates.
Unsurprisingly, the BJP hit back fiercely, slamming Gandhi’s mindset as completely lawless and dangerous. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari compared Gandhi’s rhetoric to extreme anti-national groups.
He claimed that by insulting elected leaders, Gandhi has insulted the entire population of India out of sheer frustration.
