The BJP leader condemned the FIR as appeasement politics, calling it an insult to Malayali soldiers and vowing to resist extremist forces ruling Kerala

Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Saturday strongly criticized the state police for filing an FIR against two RSS workers over a Pookkalam design that displayed the words “Operation Sindoor.” The floral carpet was made outside the Parthasarathy temple in Kollam during Onam celebrations.
Calling the move “absolutely unacceptable,” Chandrasekhar demanded the immediate withdrawal of the FIR. “Operation Sindoor is our pride. It symbolizes the valor of India’s armed forces and their response to terrorism,” he said in a post on X. He added that the FIR insults the memory of 26 victims killed in a terror attack and disrespects soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation.
The BJP leader further warned that such actions amount to appeasement politics and vowed strong opposition. “Thousands of Malayalis wear the uniform and defend India. This FIR is an insult to them. Kerala will never be ruled by extremist forces,” he stated, directly addressing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the state’s home department.
According to police, the RSS supporters, along with nearly 25 others, erected a flagpole and boards in the temple premises despite an agreement not to use political flags or symbols, given past clashes between BJP and CPI(M) workers in the area. Authorities said the inclusion of an RSS flag in the Pookkalam violated this agreement and risked provoking tensions.
A case has been registered under sections related to attempts to incite riots. Police maintain the action was taken to prevent communal or political unrest, while the BJP insists it is a matter of respect for soldiers and victims of terrorism.
