Srishailaja praised Red Cross disaster relief, urged youth service participation, and emphasized health and legal awareness together

Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Srishailaja H.V., said that the work of the Red Cross Society in helping people during difficult and emergency situations is highly commendable. She was speaking at the World Red Cross Day celebration held at Sindagi Shantaveereshwar Ayurveda Medical College auditorium in Haveri.
The event marked the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, and included the inauguration of the Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit along with the distribution of YRC and JRC guideline manuals. The program was jointly organized by the Indian Red Cross Society Haveri District Branch and the medical college.
Srishailaja said that the Red Cross has played a major role during natural disasters, wars, floods, earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic by serving people with a strong sense of humanity. She added that students and youth should develop a habit of service through such organizations. She also stressed the importance of spreading both health awareness and legal awareness among people, saying justice and awareness go hand in hand.
District Red Cross Honorary President Sanjeev Kumar Neeralgi said the organisation was founded in 1863 and continues to serve people in distress. He also shared plans to establish a blood bank in the district within six months and expand Red Cross units in schools and colleges.
College administrator V.H.K. Hiremath said doctors and students must develop a service mindset to make their lives meaningful. Officials, faculty members, Red Cross representatives and medical trainees took part in the programme. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and manuals to programme officers and participants.
