The Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University has been praised for its steady academic and infrastructural progress over the past decade, even as experts have stressed the urgent need to fill vacant teaching and non-teaching posts to maintain education quality.
Former Vice-Chancellor and head of the Triple A expert committee Meena Chandavarkar said the university has shown notable improvement in infrastructure, academic facilities, and institutional development despite several challenges.
She was speaking at the exit meeting of the Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) committee held after a two-day inspection of the university’s academic and administrative systems at the main campus.
Chandavarkar noted that a large number of permanent faculty positions remain vacant, with guest lecturers handling much of the teaching workload. She cautioned that this could impact academic quality and urged the administration to expedite recruitment processes.
She also highlighted the issue of low student enrolment in certain departments and recommended proactive outreach measures to attract more students. In addition, she stressed the need to strengthen infrastructure in response to growing demand for undergraduate programmes at the main campus.
Vice-Chancellor Vijaya Korishetty welcomed the committee’s observations, stating that the two-day review provided valuable insights into the university’s achievements, governance systems, and future plans.
She reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to empowering women through education, research, and extension activities, emphasizing that education plays a key role in social transformation and national development.
The AAA committee included senior academicians from various universities, along with university officials, deans, faculty members, and administrative staff who participated in the review meeting.
