Police have cracked three separate theft cases under the Shahabad Town Police Station limits and arrested 11 accused, recovering stolen property worth ₹10.85 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Umer Ali, Purkhan Rahimkhan, Asif Babumiya, Pasha Mahiboob of Shahabad; Subhash Eeranna Madival of Bhankur; and Pralhad Babu Sindhe, Pralhad Premkumar Kambanur, Pramod Premkumar Kambanur and Preetham Prakash, residents of Maratur. In one of the incidents, miscreants broke into the godown of Dandgund Basaveshwar Trading Company on the night of March 28 and stole 40 bags of tur dal worth about ₹2.40 lakh.
Based on a complaint filed by Nagappa Martandappa Gudaba of Honagunta village, police registered a case and formed a special team, which succeeded in arresting five accused within 24 hours. Police recovered stolen tur dal bags, a mini goods vehicle used in the crime, and a Honda Activa, with total seized property valued at ₹10.85 lakh.
Under the guidance of DySP Shankargouda Patil, the investigation team comprising PI Vananjkar, PSI Shamaraya, PSI Chandrakant, ASI Mallikarjun and staff carried out swift action to apprehend the accused and produce them before the court, following which they were remanded to judicial custody. Superintendent of Police Attur Srinivasulu has congratulated the police officers and staff for successfully detecting the cases.
