The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran’s Khondab Heavy Water Plant near Arak has been severely damaged and is no longer operational following Israeli strikes. Satellite analysis showed the facility, used in nuclear reactor operations, sustained extensive destruction, though it held no declared nuclear material. The Israel Defense Forces called the operation “Rising Lion,” citing concerns that the plant could support plutonium production for weapons. Israel said Iran had failed to fully convert the reactor to prevent such use. The strike heightens tensions in West Asia as global attention focuses on Iran’s nuclear capabilities and regional security.
