State government announces promotions and transfers of 48 IPS officers for New Year
BENGALURU
The Karnataka government carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the police department, ordering the promotion of 28 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and the transfer of 20 others across the state. The changes, announced are aimed at strengthening policing, administration and leadership across key departments.
Among the senior officers promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) are Dr M B Boralingaiah (Southern Zone), Ramnivas Sepat (National Police Training School, Hyderabad), Anupama Agarwal (CRPF), Ajay Hilori (Additional Commissioner of Police, CCB, Bengaluru), and Dr Rohini Katoch Sepat (National Police Training School, Hyderabad).
A large group of officers has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG). Those promoted include Dr Bhimashankar S Guled (CID, Economic Offences Wing), Nikam Prakash Amrit (Central Service), G Rabad (National Police Training School), Rahul Kumar Shahpurvad (NIA, Delhi), Dharmendra Kumar Meena (Central Service), Ilakiya Karunakaran (Nisthuntu Wing), Dr C B Vedamurthy (Intelligence Wing), K M Shantaraju (ISD, Bengaluru), Hanumantharaya (Human Rights Commission), D Devaraj (Police Training), Dr D R Sirigouri (Karnataka Lokayukta), Dr K Dharanidevi (Intelligence Wing), S Savita (Home Guards), C K Baba (KSRP), Abdul Ahad (BMTC Vigilance), S Girish (Anti-Narcotics Force), M Puttamadaiah (Principal, Police Training School, Kalaburagi), T Sreedhar (Police Headquarters), M Ashwini (UNMISS), A N Prakash Gowda (Special Task Force), Jinendra Khanagavi (Prisons), G K Rashmi (Railway Police), T P Shivakumar (SCRB), N Vishnuvardhan (Police Academy, Mysuru), Dr Sajeev M Patil (Chief of Police), Kamchari (Prison Security), H D Anand Kumar (Cyber Command), and Kala Krishnamurthy (Crime Division, Police Headquarters).
In addition, officers including Dr Anoop Shetty, Harish Pandey, Sumana D Pannekar, Divya Sara Thomas, Dika Kishore Babu, C B Rishyant, Nisha James, Madhura Veena and M V Chandrakanth (SP, Bengaluru Rural) have also been promoted.
The government has also ordered the transfer of 20 IPS officers, including Mohammed Sujitha (Southeastern Division, Bengaluru), M Muthuraj (Chamarajanagar), Sara Fatima (Railways), Arunangashu Giri (Raichur), Mithun Kumar (Northeastern Division), N Yatish (Western Division), Saidullah Adawat (Whitefield Division), Mallikarjun Baladandi (Mysuru), Pawan Nijjur (Ballari), Dr V J Shobharani (Mandya), Dr B T Kavita (CID), Nikhil (Shivamogga), Hariram Shankar (Udupi), A Srinivasulu (Kalaburagi), Ranjith Kumar Bandru (Chitradurga), K Ramarajan (Belagavi), K V Ashok (Tumakuru), Kannika Shikarival (Kolar), Shubanvita (Hassan) and Vikram Amte (Eastern Division, Bengaluru).
The reshuffle is expected to take effect immediately and play a key role in policing and governance in 2026.
