CHRIST (Deemed to be University) inaugurated its annual Science Fest 2025 on Wednesday, a four-day nationwide inter-collegiate celebration of innovation, research, and discovery. Organized by the School of Sciences, the event will run from August 20 to 23, offering young minds a platform to explore advancements in science and technology while fostering collaboration and creativity.
The Inaugural ceremony was graced by Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. B. N. Suresh, Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), as the Chief Guest. He delivered a keynote address highlighting the pivotal role of science in nation-building. Dr. Suresh underscored the importance of India’s strategic initiatives such as the National Quantum Mission and the Semiconductor Mission, urging students to take responsibility in steering the nation toward the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
University Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Jose C. C. presided over the function, commending the achievements of distinguished alumni, including professional mentor Sudarshan Baily and chess prodigy Gukesh Dommaraju. Dr. T. V. Joseph, Dean of Sciences, spoke about the festival’s role in igniting scientific curiosity and driving research excellence.
Alumnus Sudarshan Baily, in his motivational talk, encouraged students to recognize their unique strengths, cultivate collaboration over competition, and adopt practical approaches to professional growth. His address resonated strongly with participants, offering valuable insights into navigating career challenges. The event also saw the release of Vismaya, the School of Sciences magazine, alongside departmental publications. With its inspiring start, Science Fest 2025 promises to fuel scientific exploration and contribute to personal growth and national progress.
