Women Of Country Will Give You Answer: Cong Hits Out At PM On K’taka Sex Scandal

New Delhi

The Congress Party has ramped up its criticism of the BJP following sexual abuse allegations against JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka. Congress spokesperson Netta D’Souza claimed at a press conference that the BJP, despite its slogans like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, has a track record of protecting those accused of crimes against women.

D’Souza pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often speaks about protecting women but has failed to address cases like the allegations against Revanna. She noted that if it were someone else, Modi would have boasted about catching criminals, but because Revanna is allied with the BJP, the PM remains silent.

Prajwal Revanna and his father, H D Revanna, were booked on charges of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation after a complaint from a woman who worked in their household. The JD(S), which is allied with the BJP, has suspended Prajwal following the accusations.

The BJP, however, has blamed the Congress-led government in Karnataka for the delayed response to the allegations. Congress insists the BJP has shown a lack of commitment to justice for women, citing instances where the party seemed to protect those accused of such crimes.

Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara announced that a Blue Corner notice has been issued to bring Prajwal Revanna back to India, suggesting he may have fled. The case has drawn attention to the political tension between the Congress and BJP over how crimes against women are handled.
