BJP President JP Nadda spoke about the importance of clean governance, stating that only the BJP government could ensure it during his campaign in Assam on Thursday. He referred to the opposition alliance as the ‘Ghamandiya alliance’, noting that it comprised leaders who were either in jail or out on bail. Nadda highlighted the Modi government’s focus on fostering growth in the North-East, which the Prime Minister has dubbed ‘Ashta Lakshmi’. He outlined eight pillars of development for the region, including peace, hydropower, tourism, 5G connectivity, culture, natural farming, sports, and nurturing regional potential.

Nadda underscored the BJP’s commitment to Assam’s peace and development, contrasting it with what he described as a history of corruption under Congress rule. He mentioned several opposition leaders who are currently facing legal issues, suggesting a contrast between their approach to politics and the BJP’s stance on transparency. Nadda also praised the government’s efforts in the North-East, citing various peace accords and welfare schemes aimed at bringing positive change to the region.
