Various areas of the city were inundated due to heavy rains. Roads became canal-like. Water entered residential areas.
Many roads in the city were flooded with rainwater, and potholes that had been closed filled with water again, disrupting traffic. A large pothole formed on the Mysore Road flyover, disrupting traffic for about an hour.
Many areas including Rainbow Drive Layout in Sarjapur, Pioneer Residency in Hosur, Wilson Garden BTS Road, Manyata Tech Park, etc., became lakes.
Water stagnated near Varthur police station, disrupting vehicle movement towards Gunjur. Water stagnated near Doddakanahalli, disrupting vehicle movement towards Ibballur. The Madiwala Ayyappa underpass was filled with water.
Nagashettihalli Road was temporarily closed due to a tree falling in Nagarabavi, Ashwathnagar. Vehicles were diverted via Bhupasandra Road as an alternative route.
More than 50 luxury houses in Rainbow Layout on Sarjapur Road were submerged, causing cars, bikes and other vehicles to be flooded. Rainbow Layout was flooded due to heavy rains in 2022. Now there is waterlogging again. Residents are unable to come out of their homes and are struggling. Residents of the layout expressed their frustration with the municipal officials and the people’s representatives for not constructing a proper royal canal. Bellandur Fire Department personnel worked hard to ensure that the water flows smoothly.
Wet mixing method has been used during road works. This method is used to lay asphalt even in rain in case of emergency, said Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. It has been raining heavily all over the city all night. Our officials are working carefully. There have been no accidents anywhere. Only in a few places, the flow of water has been obstructed, he said.
