Girls Place Feet on Ganga Idol at Srinivasa Sagar Reservoir

Chikkaballapur

A few young girls belonging to the Muslim community have disrespected Goddess Ganga by placing their feet on an idol at the Srinivasa Sagar reservoir in Chikkaballapur district. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

The reservoir, filled to capacity after continuous rains over the past three days, has been attracting a large number of visitors. The incident occurred when the girls, part of a tourist group, were bathing in the reservoir. The video shows them placing their feet on the idol’s head while posing for photos and videos.

The incident has angered the Hindu community, with several organizations demanding strict action against the girls. Some groups have even warned of protests if no action is taken.

Madhu, a priest, said, “This is a painful matter as the idol has been defiled by women from another community by putting their feet on the head of the goddess’s idol. The place holds significant religious and historical importance. This act has hurt Hindus, and devotees should condemn such behavior. Such incidents are recurring, and authorities must take preventive measures.”

Local resident Sadashiva expressed concern, saying, “Instead of being happy about the increase in tourists, we are saddened. Tourists are not respecting the cultural importance of the place and behave recklessly. This act of placing feet on the idol of the goddess has hurt Hindu sentiments, and we demand action against them.”

Hindu activist Manoj added, “No Hindu would engage in such an act. Those responsible must be punished, and the Tourism Department and police should investigate the matter. We will organize protests if no action is taken.”
