‘Gruha Lakshmi beneficiary reverification must be transparent’

DC C.N. Sridhar urged staff to carefully verify welfare papers, update databases, share transparent data, and protect public funds while supporting deserving women

CH NEWS, GADAG

Officials must check beneficiary lists clearly to stop fund misuse, stated Guarantee Schemes Authority Chairman B.B. Asuti.

He spoke during a trainer workshop held on Friday at the Zilla Panchayat Hall. The event focused on checking records for the Gruha Lakshmi welfare plan.

Under this welfare project, women get two thousand rupees each month. Beneficiaries use these funds for health, family farming, small business, and school costs. In Gadag district alone, about 2.74 lakh women collect this monthly aid. Three years have passed since the launch, making a fresh check necessary.

Recent reports show family members still draw monthly cash after registered women have died. Officials also found people from other states taking benefits illegally. Leaders want these wrongful payments halted immediately through clear home checks.

Field teams must visit houses directly, speak politely, and inspect original documents. Asuti warned that staff must protect real beneficiaries from unfair delays or trouble. The administration wants to clean the registry without hurting poor families who rely on this cash.

Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar noted that this support greatly lifts living standards. He asked staff to review papers carefully, update the database, and share public facts openly. Officials have a clear duty to guard state funds while helping deserving women.

Several local leaders attended the gathering, including C.R. Mundaragi, Radha Mannur, and P.B. Alagavadi. Ashok Mandali, Devappa Murnala, and Nagaraja Madiwala also joined the planning session. Netra Harthi hosted the program and gave thanks. Transparent field checks will now ensure public money reaches only living, qualified local women across the entire district.
